Significance of Arabic Language and Tamil-Arabic Relationship

Abstract

Tamil language has been exposed to significant Arabic language interference and vice-versa. This interference spanned over centuries of cultural, literary and religious influence under various periods. It is less known that Tamil- Tamilians came into contact with Arabic language-Arabs, either directly or indirectly by the way of maritime commercial activities. This paper aims at analyzing the legacy and significance of Arabic language and Tamil- Arabic relationship. This study introduces a new approach to Dravidian-Tamil and Semitic-Arabic language contact in a vivid manner
